A modern, gender-swapped, folk musical version of the classic Jane Austen novel

Music and lyrics by Sam Wright, book by Nicholas Collett and Sam Wright

Directed by Nicholas Collett

Choreography by Stephanie Stevens

Can the Longborn boys find love – or at least empathy – with their New York millionaire neighbors, before they lose the family farm? Will Bennet Longborn’s relationship with Darcy Fitzwilliams flourish or flounder? Featuring 15 brand new folk tunes, a cast of 9, and the musical stylings of folk band, Gullywasher, Prejudice & Pride is a hilarious, heartfelt romp through American culture that invites the audience to find that we have more in common than that which divides us.

Written during lockdown, the show had two rehearsed readings in Kansas City, before its full debut in July 2022, winning the Residency Award at Musical Theatre Heritage, Kansas City and a KC Arts award. It then played at Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it won Best Show Award from the Sinners Review.
